Advice to Baruch College
If I would give advice to Baruch college would be to use some sort of New Media to give updates on what is happening around the school in terms of events and updates. Though similar things do exist on Facebook but they all belong to separate clubs. There should be one central page or account that would be updated to reflect the happenings of the week. Another way New Media can also be helpful is if there is some sort of place where students can let the school know of issues around the school, for example if the vending machine doesn't operate properly or an outlet in a certain room isn't working. The goal would be to use New Media to make things more convenient for the students and even the faculty, not to make things more complicated in the process.

I agree completely! They should also include weather updates and maybe warnings for how you should dress for the day.
ReplyDeleteI think that is a great idea. Although they do send us certain emails daily, they aren't really event updates that people are looking for. Maybe certain updates along the lines of letting students know of train delays and letting them know they should leave earlier or notifying professors of very bad delays of trains so that they could maybe consider a student's lateness in some instances.

ReplyDeleteJust to add to the above comments, I also agree that we need a centralized system for updates on whats happening on campus. I always seem to find out about great events a week after they happen and the barrage of flyers by the restrooms are just overwhelming at times. I think something along the lines of a website or even an app that has all the information in one place would be helpful to everyone including the administrators. In regards to getting unwanted information, I would suggest being able to set personal preferences on the app or website about the things that interest you. Some might be interested only is social activities on campus while others might prefer professional events such as corporate presentations or networking events.
ReplyDeleteI agree so far, I really like the way you did on this blog, and pictures of the city, and the batmand (as a compliments)
ReplyDeleteI believe your proposal should be a top of Baruch's priority of encouraging New Media.
